How Does Costco Score on Supporting Democracy and DEI?

I’m not going to lie. After doing this research, I am breathing a sigh of relief. Come on, Costco. HOLD THE LINE.

Open Secrets

While the organization itself did not contribute politically in 2024, its employees did and their donations heavily favored democratic candidates.

It also appears that Costco did not engage in lobbying activities in 2024.

American Democracy Scorecard

The American Democracy Scorecard gives Costco a “B,” which is a very high score.

I’m glad that Costco also scores high on the Campaign Finance Reform metric, which I discussed here.

Commitment to DEI

Axios recently reported that 98% of Costco shareholders voted down an anti-DEI proposal.

And DEI Watch has Costco in the Committed to DEI category.

Dear Costco, Please Hold The Line

I’m so glad that Costco is a retailer dedicated to democracy and DEI. And, since they sell gas, it’s a guilt-free place to fill up my car. SCORE!

Do you shop at Costco? What’s your favorite thing about them?

I’m Mrs. Frugal Forward

Welcome to Frugal Forward, my blog documenting the impact of the new administration on our daily life here in the United States. I have resolved to embrace frugality both out of spite (I refuse to contribute more to that man’s economy than is absolutely necessary) and because I’m not sure how bad things are going to get. I’m hoping for the best, but planning for the absolute worst. I invite you to join me as my family navigates the unknown. We have to stick together. Also, do not obey in advance.
